Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS)
Training Objective:
In accordance with the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) Code, including its amendments, 1978, the aim of this training is to ensure that personnel assigned to navigation duties on board ships at the rank of Chief Officer or higher meet the minimum competency standards required by Regulation A-II/1 of the STCW Code: "Navigation, including passage planning, execution of the voyage plan, and position fixing." Upon completion of this training, participants should possess sufficient knowledge and relevant operational skills of electronic chart display and information systems, including understanding system functionalities and limitations, interpreting and analyzing information, proficient operation, management procedures, and meet the responsibilities required by the STCW Code for navigating officers on watch.
